Welcome to Scully Learning Center Foundation

Scully Learning Center Foundation is a well-established nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization sponsored by Carefree Kiwanis that has been providing enrichment activities to developmentally disabled adults since 2010. Located in Cave Creek, Carefree, North Scottsdale, and surrounding areas, we have created a close-knit family where individuals with disabilities can explore the world, find purpose, and live meaningful lives.

Our target demographic consists of adults with various developmental disabilities, such as Autism, Cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome, and Intellectual delays. We pride ourselves on welcoming members for life and have had the privilege of serving individuals who have been with us since our inception over 12-years ago. Over time, we have evolved into a supportive family unit

During our interactions with our members, we have identified a critical unmet need that has reshaped the aspirations and purpose of Scully Learning Center Foundation. Many of our members, who have never lived outside their family homes, reside with aging parents or guardians who will eventually be unable to provide care and housing. This realization has prompted us to embark on a new endeavor: establishing a distinctive residential center for adults with developmental and physical disabilities.

Our goal is to create a nurturing residential environment that facilitates a smooth transition for individuals from lifelong family homes to a nurturing, comfortable and familiar setting. We understand the importance of maintaining the sense of belonging and security that our members have experienced within their families. Our residential center will aim to replicate this atmosphere while providing the necessary support and care for their unique needs. Unlike other residential settings, siblings can be placed together, maintaining a lifelong bond and relatives will be welcome to reside in a studio apartment while their family member(s) adjust to their new setting. Our group home will be known as, “Preserving Families Home.”

By establishing this residential center, Scully Learning Center Foundation will address a critical gap in services for adults with developmental disabilities. We envision a facility that offers a comprehensive range of services, including comfortable and accessible housing, personalized care plans, recreational activities, life skills training and educational opportunities. Our facility will provide a nurturing, safe and life enriching setting.

To achieve our vision, we will engage in fundraising efforts, seek grants and sponsorships, and collaborate with community partners who share our mission. Additionally, we will leverage our existing network and reputation to raise awareness about the need for specialized residential facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The successful implementation of this new initiative will not only provide a much-needed service to our members but also strengthen Scully Learning Center Foundation’s position as a leader in the field of developmental disability support. We are excited about this new chapter of our foundation’s legacy.

Personal Stories of Scully Learning Center Foundation

“Scully changed Kelly’s life in Arizona. We are thankful for Scully and all it has done for Kelly. She loves being part of the Scully family and it makes her so very happy. It lights up her life. She is very excited about the opportunity to live in a house that Scully builds. As her parents we have been concerned and have asked the question, who takes care of your loved one when you are gone or unable to provide for them? The Scully Campaign to build a house will create a home for these loved ones. Building this house is an incredible act of love.”

“The Scully Foundation and the Kiwanis have made a terrific impact on both our
son with special needs and our family. Our son has been actively involved with both organizations for the past 12 years.

Scully Foundation and the Kiwanis Aktion Club have involved our son
and his friends in many community activities, and day trips which have provided new opportunities and experiences while in a safe and friendly environment. We couldn’t say enough about how caring all the volunteers are.

These two organizations have made a difference in his life.”
